Transformative Journeys: My clients words...

Anxiety

How was your therapy experience?: Excellent. Was a breath of fresh air. A real oasis in life and freedom to talk openly.

Can you let me know of anything that you feel I could do differently?: No. You listened. Allowed me to open up my heart and talk freely within judgement.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: Go for it!

OCD

How was your therapy experience?: Life changing - from start to finish I can only say positive things. Lyanne has changed my life in such a positive way and I will be forever grateful.

Can you let me know of anything that you feel I could do differently?: Nothing - all wonderful

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: Do it. Everyone should have access to good therapy.

Anxiety

How was your therapy experience?: I found the therapy very valuable. It helped me gain perspective, view myself externally and realise that anxiety had been robbing me of the present for fear of what may or may never come to pass.

Can you let me know of anything that you feel I could do differently?: I found talking very useful, but I'm aware it sometimes drifted off topic.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: Don't ignore poor mental health. The most precious commodity is time, and it can too easily be lost if we ignore our mental health.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

How was your therapy experience?: Therapy helped me reduce symptoms of PTSD, which had been experienced awhile before diagnosis, the therapy was superb.

Can you let me know of anything that you feel I could do differently?: Keep the same, absolute legend and very gifted.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: Please, please, do not hesitate to reach out for therapy, it has made a huge positive difference to all areas of my life, and remember its ok if you cant completely relax during the sessions. Put effort into the sessions, and be aware you can feel emotionally drained at the beginning but it improves with each session.

Body Foused Repetitive Behaviours

How was your therapy experience?: I really enjoyed my time with Lyanne. I felt as though our personalities matched well and she was very open and honest. She made it a very safe space to talk and I appreciated the techniques she brought to the sessions.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: It's a safe space to talk about your feelings without judgement. I would recommend it to anyone who feels it would help.

Flying Phobia

I can't believe I actually slept on the plane - without ANY medication, thank you very much, I can finally look forward to holidays without dreading the flights!

Complex PTSD

How was your therapy experience?: Not my first therapy experience but definitely my most successful/fruitful experience. Over the course of several months. Lyanne showed clear insight and understanding in the cause & effects of Trauma and exposed me to a wide variety of anxiety management techniques to equip me to work through it as an individual. I really appreciated the attentiveness and care given in my treatment, which was evident her focusing on techniques that had an evident subjective appeal to me (rather than sticking with techniques that may objectively make more "sense"). I distinctly remember several mental "brick walls" being broken through in my sessions.

Can you let me know of anything that you feel I could do differently?: During my sessions, I tended to ruminate or ramble on specific instances of my trauma (initially having to prove to myself that I was abused - which was important, but later just ruminating out of habit - which is something that I needed to break out of), some direction/input/interruption in-session to help break the rumination and to realign our discussion towards bolstering my inner self would have helped (though I understand that you are not a mind reader and that this is a major balancing act since you don't want to put your client off).

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: Start with "free" support services - these can help gauge your situation, whether therapy would help, and the specific type of therapy to start with. Starting therapy with some direction (e.g. "I need therapy because...") will positively contribute to the experience as you and your therapist will be starting on the same page. Also understand that therapy is not intended to magically "fix" your situation, but rather equip you with tools and techniques to help you work through your situation.

Trauma & Phobias

How was your therapy experience?: Very positive - I felt comfortable to talk and share my thoughts and feelings.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: I would advise people that if they aren't happy about a fear or have a previous trauma that they are not able to overcome on their own, get help. Talk to someone and give it a go.

Panic Attacks

Lyanne helped me overcome my anxiety and challenge my fears with great techniques and advice. Amazing and attentive therapist.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

How was your therapy experience?: My therapy was amazing. Throughout my time in therapy I learned so much about myself, it was a truly thought provoking experience. Always in a relaxed environment I was able to take time to process everything step by step. I felt at ease and able to be my true self for the hour session with no judgement on anything I said. Therapy has helped me through some very difficult periods in my life.

Can you let me know of anything that you feel I could do differently?: No this has been an absolutely fantastic experience.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: I am now a real advocate for therapy, i think that everyone, with any problems in life should feel able to talk about it and therapy is the way forward. There is no stigma, no shame, it is good to talk and feels empowering to be truly listened to.

Anxiety

What brought you to therapy?: Previous use of Frontline19 for anxiety following working on ICU during Covid.

How was your therapy experience?: Absolutely fantastic. Lyane helped me with and taught me coping techniques for my anxiety. The sessions were very laidback which helped me a lot and really made me feel comfortable and safe.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: Do it. Reaching out for help is a sign that you've been strong for long enough; dont struggle on your own.

PTSD

How was your therapy experience?: I only have positive memories of my therapy experience. Lyanne has a very assuring demeanor and was able to make me feel relaxed and comfortable. She discussed relevant options with me, explained her opinions on their suitability and was genuinely interested to work with what I felt most comfortable with. The 'rewind' therapy itself was groundbreaking for me, and brought about almost instant results.

Can you let me know of anything that you feel I could do differently?: I genuinely cannot think how the experience/therapy could be improved.

What would you say to someone thinking about therapy?: I had tried speaking with another therapist, and I never felt I was getting anywhere, but just went through the motions hoping something would 'click', but it never did. I decided that counselling clearly wasn't the solution for me or my issues. Time went by, and I decided I needed to revisit counselling, cold called a few therapists and was referred to Lyanne, and it proved to be a positive life changing decision.
